Fringe Festival

CTC is proud to present our seventh annual Fringe Festival: an exciting weekend of original theatre presentations.

May 18th - 21st

Welcome to the 2023 CTC Fringe Festival!

For those of you who are at the Fringe for the first time, let me explain what you are about to experience. We all like tasting menus in restaurants, don't we? Trying these delicious small dishes... So imagine, a tasting menu of freshly-cooked plays! In one night you will see three short original plays created by our talented participants specially for the festival. And as a dessert, you will get an improv comedy show on Thursday and Saturday! This year, the lineup is as diverse as our directors, who come from all over the world. But what they have in common, is a sincere passion for the theatre and unleashed creativity. So sit back and enjoy the show!

- Olga Makarova, Fringe Production Manager

Some difficult themes are present in a few of our plays. If you are in need of support and seeking someone to talk to, see these resources in Danish, Swedish, and English in order to access support.

Lineup

GROUP ONE - Performing on Thursday and Saturday

"Working Title" written and directed by Laura Holme-Hoske.

A room. Four people. Their work. Donuts.

Cast: Laurie Richards, Charlotte Duus, Rudy Hidding, and Veronika Gajsak

"PSYCHOPOMPS" written and directed by Ellen Paulig.

What do you think happens when we die? The play is a row of different ways three people imagine what happens after Death has claimed us.

Cast: Emma Borrow, Gina Mobilia, Olga Makarova, Roger LeBlanc, and Christina Mai

“Thank You For Your Interest” written and directed by Melissa Suan & Brooke Bourgeois

Thank You For Your Interest is a one-woman multi-media piece exploring the space between what we present versus our inner reality. The play takes place in a conversation where we are forced to confront our perception of self–we all know these situations: job interviews, first dates… well, really the ‘first’ of any meeting that could potentially change your life.

Two improv comedy performances by our partner, Improv Comedy Copenhagen

“Improv Made You a Mixtape” (Performing Thursday)

This is not a musical - this is a mixtape! This entertaining show is inspired by 3 songs chosen by the audience. Rewind to your dearest, strangest, most fabulous music memory, loop us in on why a certain song is so special to you, and the Mixtape team will ruin that memory forever with their hilarious scenes!

“Murder of Crows” (Performing Saturday)

Everybody cheats and lies in this dangerous and dingy world inspired by the Film Noir genre from the 1920's and 40's. No one can be trusted, or can they? All Murder of Crows shows are unique and darkly comic, as you the audience provide the title which inspires the show.

GROUP TWO - Performing on Friday and Sunday

“An Original Thought” written and directed by Rocio Christensen

A woman in her mid-20s examines her need for the spotlight through a stand-up routine that spirals into something beyond her control.

Cast: Rocío Christensen

"Vestamager!" written and directed by Geraint Nott.

Marlow dreams of being an architect and after falling asleep on the Metro, they wake up in a mysterious town called Vestamager! The locals welcome Marlow initially, but they hide a dark and sinister reason for wanting them to stay. Marlow may be able to realize their dream, but it could cost them their life.

Cast: Michela Rasmini, Danielle Judson, Ellen Paulig, and Liyang Han

“Urban Gardening” by Ivan Faute, directed by Dominik Turkowski

Tomato, Cucumber and Pepper are perfectly happy in their sunny spot, that is until Sunflower moves in and ruins the planter. Who does she think she, all yellow and chirpy and, worst of all, a flower! The four are stuck together it seems in misery unless perhaps they can find a new common enemy. Like that rosebush over there; she looks mighty suspicious.

Cast: Miranda Thomsen, Anne-Sophie Pedersen, Karolina Szewczykowska, and Arina Rasmussen

Special thank you to our partner, the ICC Theatre - Improv Comedy Copenhagen, who is providing the venue and strong support for the festival!
